Spacing With Mathematical Symbols

Thin spaces should be used before and after the following mathematical symbols: ±, =, <, >, ≤, ≥, +, −, ÷, ×, ·, ≈, ∼, ∩, ∫, Π, Σ, and |.

Symbols are set close to numbers, superscripts and subscripts, and parentheses, brackets, and braces.
