2.3.1 Order of Footnotes

The preferred order of the footnotes at the bottom of the first page of an article in JAMA and the Archives Journals is as follows (see also 22.0, Typography). Note: Not all articles will include all of these.

JAMA

  • ▪ Author affiliations

  • ▪ Death of an author (death dagger [†]) (see 2.3.2, Footnotes to Title Page, Death)

  • ▪ Information about members of a group (see 2.10.6, Acknowledgment Section, List of Participants in a Group Study)

  • ▪ Corresponding author contact information
