Title of the Article
2.4.2 Title of the Article
The shortened version of the title should be kept brief but should emphasize the main point of the article (see the options suggested in the second example below, based on the desired emphasis), not just repeat the first few words of the title. Different journals have different limits (eg, approximately 45 characters and spaces in JAMA). No punctuation follows the running foot/header.
