Diagnostic and prognostic studies are designed to develop, validate, or update the diagnostic or prognostic accuracy of a test or model. Correct treatment depends on accurate diagnosis. Diagnoses may be made based on a patient’s history, physical signs or physical examination findings, or procedures such as blood tests and radiologic imaging.
